For our second lecture of the 2026/2027 NIAAS season, we are pleased to welcome back Professor Alan Fitzsimmons from Queens University Belfast. The title of his talk is Interstellar Objects.
This lecture will take place on Monday 5th October 2026 in our usual venue at Ballyclare High School Lecture Theatre, starting at 8pm Sharp
About Prof Fitzsimmons: I am an astronomer in the QUB Astrophysics Research Centre. My primary research interests are in performing observations of minor bodies in our solar system, comets and asteroids. These studies are generally based on observations performed on the UK supported telescopes in the Canary Islands (ING) and Chile ( ESO). I am also a member of the WASP consortium which has built and operates the SuperWASP facility on La Palma, and the UK Pan-STARRS Science Consortium.
We’re really excited to welcome Alan back to the NIAAS and this just adds to what has been a great start to the new season.
We look forward to welcoming old and new members along to our second talk of the season and having a quick catchup over refreshments after the lecture.
See you all there!
Clear Skies
Philip
